The Radar Katana is part of The Bent Vee 2021 Collection, this series is a novelty for water skiing. The Katana has the right width under foot to let the rider pop off the wake easily. If you take this feature and add it to the flat channel with grip rails, the result is a water ski with a bigger surface area to upgrade your abilities. This is an excellent ski for intermediate skiers.

Key Features

  • Build Quality
The Katana 2021 has an all-terrain core, pointing to its most forgiving construction. It has a feather frame chassis. The water ski is built with 100% carbon fiber, adding a consistent flex in the ride and nimbleness over the water. The carbon fibers (or graphite) have high-temperature tolerance, low thermal expansion, and are lightweight. It has a flat spine down through its center, which allows the water to flow easily. The drag is considerably reduced, making it possible to turn and twist without fatigue. The Radar Katana has an oversized flat spot that helps the ski to auto-level. Riders of all skill ranges can feel comfortable on this ski, giving them balance over the water.
  • Design
The Radar Katana 2021 is designed with an inside radius built within the ski. It adds the ability to twist tightly and softly on both sides. This unique feature allows the rider to turn up and down the lake with complete freedom. It has multi-level rails that maintain the ski’s edge while cutting the wake. These grip rails make it easy to hold an edge, allowing the skier to be confident in wake crossings. Its maximum suggested speed is 32 mph. Something awesome about this ski is that it has NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled. This technology sends data from the ski to your cell phone, allowing you to see your stats on the water and help improve your skiing technique. For this reason, it is one of my favorite skis. The Radar Katana comes in three sizes, the 65” has a black, white and blue design, the 67” comes in black and orange, and the 69” is white and pink colored.
  • Bindings
Since the Radar Katana is part of the 2021 Bent Vee Collection, it has two boot recommendations: one for men, The Prime, and one for women, The Lyric. The Prime was designed to ease the entrance and increase the skier’s mobility. These bindings ensure comfort and upgrade performance. They have a feather frame chassis, lower cuff height, symmetrical fit, double lacing system, and a soft density footbed. The Prime comes in three sizes: small (5 – 8), standard (7 – 11), and extra-large (10 – 14) in all-black design. Then we have The Lyric boots, built with a feather frame chassis, wrap tech level 1, molded 3D tongue, symmetrical fit, and a beautiful and delicate black and pink design. These bindings are lighter, softer, and smaller, especially for a lady’s footprint. They slide on easily to give reliable ankle support with no foot cramps. Find them in small (6-9) and standard (8-12) sizes.

Final thoughts / Conclusion

The Radar Katana 2021 is an incredible ski to ride on open waters; its low drag and easy turn features appeal to water skiers of all levels. This ski can perfectly cut the wake from 24 to 32 mph cleanly and comfortably. Follow the height and weight recommendations above to choose the right ski for you. The added NFC enabled really gives this ski a head start when it comes to choosing a ski that will aid in your development from intermediate to advanced, and this is why I think the Radar Katana is a stand-out ski for the 2021 collection.
